For all the women who participate in our programs, KK intl is just the starting point of their empowerment journey. From Day 1 they are encouraged to use their time in the program to build a future of wellbeing independent of us. It is always a great joy to watch this transition take place.
Meet Eva. Evangelica Alvarez followed her brothers to Lima from Cuzco (where Machu Picchu is) in search of work in the apparel industry. Eva spent the next few years jumping from job to job. She worked mostly in restaurants and spent her time not at work studying to complete her high school education.
When Eva heard about a vacancy at KK Peru from one of her neighbors, she saw an opportunity to get back on track towards completing her long-term goal of learning how to make high quality apparel items. Since joining our program she's been doing just that and more. Last week our team of mentors met up with Eva as she was leaving KK Peru for the day. This is what she had to say...
