HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY FROM KK PERU & KK UGANDA
As an organization that primarily works with women, International Women's Day calls for celebration at both our empowerment projects in Uganda and Peru. Our model for empowerment consists not only of jobs, mentorship, and education, but a holistic approach to restore joy and confidence as well. This approach is something that we embrace every day throughout the year, but International Women's Day is an opportunity to remind these women of the pride they should take not only in themselves, but also in one another. Read on to see how both KK Peru and KK Uganda celebrated this powerful day!
UGANDA:
Uganda holds an annual celebration for International Women's Day complete with a parade, various workshops, speakers, and more as a movement towards motivating and inspiring local women. This celebration is held in Awach, Uganda and we were so excited to once again participate in the festivities. We're so grateful to be a part of this encouraging community!
PERU:
We have always believed that the women in our program are superheroes, so to celebrate this year's International Women's Day in Peru, we set up a photo booth for the ladies in our program to dress up - complete with props - as masked crusaders! We loved seeing their faces light up as they tried on colorful capes and struck their best stoic pose. Our celebration was a lighthearted way to remind the women in our program of their capabilities and strength.
