CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2016

Today is International Women's Day! Every year on March 8th, we are invited to celebrate and recognize women across the globe for their achievements in shifting economic, cultural, and political landscapes. Today, we take a moment to reflect on how grateful and privileged we are to work alongside strong, capable women in Uganda and Peru every day who are working towards not only creating a better present, but a better future as well. We choose to work with women because we believe they are a catalyst for change. When women are empowered, they bring valuable resources to their families and their communities, allowing them to become empowered as well. In honor of International Women's Day, we're highlighting some of the inspiring stories of the women in our programs in Uganda and Peru that are setting positive trends for their peers, family, and community. You can read all our Stories of Change here. ROSA BARAHONA "I am proud of all the changes in my life. I used not to smile and I was reserved. I didn’t have many friends. Then I met people that think differently, people with life experiences that made the decision to be happy. Now I am happy." I enjoy my time at KK Peru, but I know it will come to an end. So far, I have saved over $1,000 to invest into my own clothing business when I graduate." On top of this, I am able to support my neighbors with some financial support and agriculture knowledge as well. I’ve been advising them in how to plant their crops to get the highest yield. When I am able to make a bigger investment I will be able to employ members of my community.” Read more about Christine here! international womens day 2016
