Here at Krochet Kids intl. we are lucky enough to call multiple locations "home". From our sunny HQ in Southern California to our empowerment projects in both Uganda and Peru, we commit to rooting ourselves in each of these places. We're fortunate that our mission of empowerment takes us near and far - Our Director of Development, Sean, spent four years working in Krochet Kids Uganda and traveling across East Africa. He returned from his time in Uganda with incredible stories of impact, change, and an impressive list of the top 10 places to visit in East Africa.
1. Zanzibar, Tanzania
Close your eyes and imagine paradise in your head. You’re thinking of Zanzibar. You'll want to visit Zanzibar on your trip to East Africa to catch a beautiful sunset over glassy ocean waters.
2. Malindi, Kenya
This city is a must-stop during any trip to East Africa. Malindi, located in the beautiful country of Kenya, is the perfect fusion of small town Italy meets the Swahili Coast.
3. Sipi Falls, Uganda
One of our favorite things to do in East Africa is see what the local landscapes have to offer. There aren't many things more incredible than hiking from waterfall to waterfall on the misty slopes of a volcano.
4. Masai Mara, Kenya
This annual migration of thousands of animals is any traveler's dream. The native creatures cross the plains of East Africa in search of resources during June and July provide a compelling sight that you won't want to miss.
5. David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Kenya
One thing to check off your list of things to do in East Africa is seeing baby elephants during your trip to East Africa. Not only are they incredible creatures, but the baby elephants are a whole new level of adorable. Enough said.
6. African Heritage House, Kenya
If the entire continent got together to build a house, this would be it. Don't miss this gorgeous combination of museum meets bed and breakfast meets wildlife viewing.

7. Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda
When visiting East Africa, see these falls to experience the exhilarating power of the entire Nile River being forced through a 30 ft gorge.
8. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda
This breathtaking lake is comprised of peaceful islands, dugout canoes, and rope swings. If you're looking for somewhere to engage in a little relaxing exploration on your trip to East Africa, this is the place.
9. Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda
This park located on the border of Kenya, Uganda and Sudan is remote. Most people fly here, but we braved the twelve hour motorcycle trip. It was just us and these guys, and definitely worth it.
10. Krochet Kids Uganda
We may be a little biased, but KK Uganda is one of our personal favorite places to visit in East Africa. We are so fortunate to have an amazing staff and facility.
