Making the Ball Ever wonder how those wonderful puffs of magic were made for the top of your Thomas or TwinFin? These removable balls start out as loops of yarn and end up as the awesome round and fluffy accessories that you know and love. Step 1: The ladies tie many loops of yarn together with a piece of string. These loops are tied in the center and this creates a bunch of criss-crossing “figure eights” out of yarn. Step 2: All of the loops are cut to leave a bunch of yarn ends sticking out in all directions. Step 3: The pieces of yarn are all cut and trimmed towards the center and eventually the ladies shape the yarn in to a sphere. And bam! You have a removable ball. The leftover hanging string is threaded into a button and attached to your hat. - David
